ProRail, the company responsible for the Dutch railway network infrastructure, has put significant effort into the construction and maintenance of their firefighting facilities in several industrial areas within the port of Rotterdam.
Together with our distributor DNM Industrial Firefighting, AVK has been closely involved, already from the design stadium. This has resulted in a solid foundation for the quality of the hydrants and valves.
For the new firefighting system of the rail yards, AVK has supplied over 500 above-ground fire hydrants and gate valves. In close consultation with the end user, the hydrants of AVK series 27 with UL/FM approvals were chosen. These hydrants are suitable for use in a salty environment. In terms of execution, high-quality materials have been used. For example, the spindle and coupling are executed in stainless steel 318, the pins of Inconel 718. The coating is applied according to GSK guidelines and is provided with a UV-resistant topcoat. The pressure tests are carried out at 35 bar according to UL/FM regulations

AVK gate valves are also suitable for use in a salty environment. For this purpose, the spindle is executed in aluminum bronze and the other parts are made of high-quality stainless steel. The coating for the valves is applied according to GSK guidelines and our AVK rubber factory in Denmark ensures a high-quality vulcanized wedge.
